Natalio Rivas Ruiz was born in Granada on 4 September 1894 and arrived in Bologna in the autumn of 1910 as a resident at the Collegio di Spagna. With a bachelor's degree from the Instituto General y Técnico in Madrid, he enrolled in the Faculty of Law at the University of Bologna in the academic year 1911-12 and graduated on 8 June 1915 with a thesis entitled “Arturo Shopenhauer’s Theory of Law”. After graduating, he returned to Spain, where he devoted himself to teaching Italian and played for Real Madrid alongside the Bernabeu brothers. He died in Madrid on 28 April 1952.
Probably introduced to football by his compatriot Antonio Bernabeu y Yeste, he soon became one of the pillars of Bologna Football Club as a winger of great technical elegance, until the championship was suspended due to the war in 1915. He made 36 appearances and scored 9 goals for the Club in the Championship from 1910 to 1915.
